Burberry to Renovate And Rename Victoria and Albert Fashion Gallery in South Kensington
Uniting two icons of British culture with a shared legacy of heritage, innovation and creativity, the partnership will see the gallery redeveloped and exclusively renamed “The Burberry Gallery” upon reopening in spring 2027. Burberry has a long-standing legacy of supporting arts and culture at home and abroad. From partnering with international exhibitions and cultural institutions to funding creative arts scholarships and helping youth organisations provide greater access to the creative industries through The Burberry Foundation. Following closure this May, the V&A South Kensington’s Fashion Gallery will be renovated into a spectacular and participatory space that will allow visitors to experience the V&A’s fashion collection complemented by an activity programme onsite.
“Burberry’s partnership with the V&A marks a milestone moment for British arts and culture,” says Joshua Schulman, CEO, Burberry. “It unites two centuries-old cultural icons with a shared legacy of heritage and innovation, and a commitment to championing creativity. We are so thrilled to come together with the V&A team to celebrate the rich history of fashion and to develop an immersive space that will inspire creative minds for generations to come. The V&A Fashion Gallery was last structurally redeveloped in 1962 and remains one of the museum’s most visited and largest dedicated permanent gallery spaces.”
The V&A has hosted major fashion exhibits in recent years including “Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto“, “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams,” and “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”. On reopening, The Burberry Gallery will continue to display a fashion collection spanning five centuries. Burberry has a legacy of supporting arts and culture, previously partnering with the British Pavilion for La Biennale di Venezia and the Royal Academy for the Thomas Burberry Prize. The luxury brand also presented its Winter 2025 runway collection at Tate Britain and its Summer 2025 runway collection at the National Theatre, both in London.
