Dior, the French luxury goods company chaired by Bernard Arnault, has announced seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton as their brand ambassador. Hamilton has also worked with Dior men’s artistic director Kim Jones to guest design a capsule collection of apparel and accessories.

With this announcement, LVMH, the parent company of Dior, intensifies its marketing efforts in Formula 1. The sport has surged in popularity among broader audiences in recent years, prompting this strategic initiative.

“The House is pleased to welcome Seven-Time Formula 1 world champion LewisHamilton as the newest Dior Ambassador for the men’s collection. Fresh from his victory at the British Grand Prix, this momentous announcement kicks off with the release of a lifestyle capsule designed as part of a guest collaboration with Dior’s creative director of menswear, Kim Jones—reaffirming a lasting legacy of embracing icons who redefine what is possible,” per a post on Dior’s Instagram account.

“Couldn’t be more excited about this! I’ve been working with Kim Jones and the Dior team on this for over a year and the journey has been incredibly rewarding. Creativity and collaboration keep us sharp and it’s vitally important to push ourselves in new ways. A lot of research, ideation, and time went into this—stay tuned, much more to come,” expressed Lewis Hamilton in a LinkedIn post.

Lewis Hamilton Guest Designs New Lifestyle Collection

Hamilton’s guest collaboration “stretches the limits of performance, excellence and elegance, while at the same time displaying virtuosity in sustainability,” according to a release.

Per NSS, ‘The collection reflects Hamilton’s interest in extreme sports, including snowboarding, skydiving, and surfing, with fabrics ranging from denim to tweed; sweaters, sweatshirts, and fleece tops, and technical clothing produced by Japanese skiwear brand Descente, which has collaborated with Dior since the launch of the luxury brand’s ski capsule in 2020.’

There is no leather usage and the collection is made from eighty percent sustainable materials, a testament to Kim Jones and Less Hamilton’s shared vision for style and sustainability. Per WWD, ‘United by their joint commitment to sustainability and passion for Africa, Hamilton and Kim Jones, artistic director of menswear at Dior, worked together on the new collection, which is scheduled to drop on Oct. 17, 2024. The partnership comes as the seven-time world champion is poised to switch teams to Ferrari in 2025 after 12 seasons with Mercedes.’

Lewis Hamilton has designed several collections with Tommy Hilfiger, announced plans for his own brand, Plus 44, as well as a potential collaboration with Takashi Murakami.
