PS the limited-edition shiny transparent Wayfarer frames lets wearers show off the tech innovation through transparency.

Ray-Ban | Meta

Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses were the first product to come out of meta’s multi-year partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Together, they’re committed to delivering innovative technology and style while helping people better connect with friends and family. Wearers can create custom frames and lens combinations with Remix or choose from the selection of timeless colourways.

The second generation was renamed Ray-Ban | Meta. “The biggest input we received was around the desire for live-streaming,” EssilorLuxottica chief wearables officer Rocco Basilico told WWD. “We found that people were already using the frames to capture impactful moments. So, naturally the next progression was the ability to share these moments in real time while still being present.”

The updated feature allows users to capture their lives in real time with an ultra-wide 12 MP camera and five-mic system capable of live-streaming to Facebook and Instagram with high-quality photos and 1080p videos.

What makes it a game-changer?

Equipped with innovative technology and the power of AI, the pair of smart glasses recognises objects and provides information about what the user sees. For the end user, this means that once an image has been captured by the on-device camera on the right side of the frame, it will analyse the image of a location, object, surroundings or anything else and provide the required information.

The custom-built speaker and five mics with immersive audio recording delivers rich sound transmission for calls and videos. And the background noise suppression algorithm provides an enhanced calling experience like you’d expect from dedicated headphones. Ray-Ban Stories also pairs with the new Facebook View app, so wearers can share experiences with friends and followers on social media and WhatsApp.

Charging capacity is enhanced with up to 32 hours of additional battery life per fully charged case with a new redesigned, sleek brown charging case that mimics the classic Ray-Ban case.
