Despite their cross-cultural backstory, the collaborative Brooks Brothers’ Converse All Star LGCY is of good quality, featuring two co-branded Converse sneakers, with the logos on the tongue and elastic shoelaces’ hardware. Currently available for purchase on Brooks Brothers Japan’s website for $100-110 apiece, the collection debuts at Brook Brothers’ Omotesando and Kyoto Takashimaya stores on March 12, with a limited release at select Brooks Brothers Stores from March 15.
Brooks Brothers was founded in 1818. A symbol of American heritage since its introduction of the button-down collar shirt and the ready-to-wear suit, Authentic Brands-owned Brooks Brothers has cemented its place in menswear. Nike subsidiary and iconic American sportswear brand Converse was established in 1908 and markets, distributes and licenses sports apparel, accessories and footwear.
However, Brooks Brothers and Converse’s collaborative Chuck Taylors, is Japanese in character — it is the result of a collaboration between Brooks Brothers Japan and Converse Japan. The former is a joint venture between the American Brooks Brothers and DAIDOH Limited, whereas the latter is unrelated to its Nike-owned counterpart! Converse Japan is a separate entity focused on high quality, design-focused products for the Japanese market.
