Investment firm Launch, launched by angel investor Jason Calacanis in 2010, is on a mission to support founders and inspire innovation. Their small team puts on one of the largest startup conferences in the world, ‘The Festival’; the podcast ‘This Week In Startups’ and runs ‘The Launch Incubator’. The firm’s methodology is to invest millions of dollars into an approximate forty promising founders a year, some of which go on to change the world. Most of these founders spend twelve weeks in their “very intense — but fabulously fun — accelerator.”
How do they invest? One application form is considered for ‘Founder University’ which is a twelve-week course for founders who want to learn how to transform their vision into reality or a two-day intensive course for founders who have launched their product but haven’t raised Series A; ‘The Launch Accelerator’ which invests in seven start-ups for each cohort with the mission that the founders meet seven hundred plus investors and master growth strategies; or ‘Funds and Syndicate’ which directly invests in deals and also operates a syndicate of ten thousand plus accredited investors who invest alongside them.
The firm’s media division has two segments: ‘This Week In Startups with Jason Calacanis and Molly Wood’ and ‘The All-In Podcast‘ with Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg.’
